Meet the coaches
Hi! My name is Dustin Shurlow
CrossFit first became a part of my life in March of 2013. Several employees, including myself, came to Top Fuel CrossFit from a local gym to experience a teaser class. Not only did we find the class gratifying, but entertaining as well. With constantly changing workouts, and the push to become better athletes, CrossFit grabbed my full attention. Fast-forward to today and the same excitement for the sport is still prevalent. Moving into owner and coaching roles has given me the opportunity to share the love of the sport with others. The ability level of each person that walks through the door is different, but the coaches have developed a program that allows each individual a chance at success. Personal achievements, no matter how small, are celebrated and recognized by those around you. From successfully completing a pull-up to squatting 400lbs, you can look around and watch as people change their lives.
I know that not all people are equipped with the skills to complete workouts the way they are written. Any impediments, whether mental or physical, may determine what you can do in the gym. However; the spirits of the coaching staff see these barriers as the building blocks of each individual’s future success story. Start small, soak in constructive criticism, work towards your goals, and leave each day knowing your life is changing.
Hi! I'm Sarah Bascom.
I found CrossFit in 2014, at the age of 35, when a friend convinced me to try a class at a local gym. My previous workout experience was limited to running and the elliptical. I didn’t even know what a burpee was. I fell in love instantly! What once started as a way to lose weight and get healthy has now become my passion. This sport has changed my life. It has given me confidence, strength, and it challenges me daily. I want to share my love for CrossFit and help others discover that they are capable of so much more than they ever thought possible.
Hi! I'm Jordan Pearman.
I have been a part of the CrossFit Community since 2012. My passion for the sport continued to grow, which led me to obtain my Level 1 Certification in 2014. I’ve coached at two different affiliate locations with a dominant goal to make every athlete better. My favorite aspect of coaching is getting to help people accomplish goals they felt were unachievable. The most rewarding part about coaching is getting to know each and every one of my athletes and getting to be a part of their lives.
Hi! I'm Josh Marlow.
I started my CrossFit journey in 2013. I was bored at the time with isolated strength conditioning and I was looking for something different. I was hooked after completing my first WOD. I loved the challenge of competing against others, the stimulus the workouts offer, and the idea that I could measure my own personal growth over time. I quickly got addicted to the community aspect of CrossFit as well. I have witnessed many people get their first pull up, toes to bar, handstand walk, or muscle up, which excites me more than my own personal growth. That’s why I decided to pursue my L-1 certification and start coaching others. I want people to feel a sense of accomplishment, to help overcome challenges and barriers that others have helped me with over the years.
